Is it better to rent or buy? Use 100 years of data to help you decide
The free workshop is valuable for homeowners as well as those who are considering their rental vs. buying options
While the prevailing belief is that buying a home is always a better investment than renting an apartment, this traditional rule-of-thumb rarely reflects the true costs of home-ownership. Longtime Millbrae resident and Data Scientist, Rik Ganju, will share the fruits of countless hours combining over 100 years of home sales and rental rates data to provide a realistic, county-level assessment of the value of purchasing a home versus renting. This work is now being edited by David Crook, recently retired Wall Street Journal senior editor who authored two WSJ-branded books on home ownership. Participants will get a historical view of home values as well as the opportunity to input general details for a personal recommendation.
