Man Enters Plea in Deadly Burlingame Stabbing

The suspect fled to Sacramento following the crime. He was tracked down and arrested--but is now free on bail.

A man pleaded not guilty Monday to stabbing a coworker to death during an argument over a woman outside of a Burlingame office building last month, prosecutors said today.

Rodney Williams, 28, is charged with murder for the fatal stabbing of Neil Lewis, 28, just before 6 p.m. on July 7, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office. Williams and Lewis worked together moving rental cars between lots, according to prosecutors.

That evening, Williams was angry with Lewis for taking an interest in his girlfriend, prosecutors said. They got into a fight outside the office complex in the 1800 block of Gilbreth Road. Bystanders told police they saw the two men fighting until Lewis fell to the ground and Williams fled in a red sedan.

Lewis was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with multiple stab wounds and died about 40 minutes later.

Police released a description of the suspect, and eventually tracked Williams to a Sacramento residence, where he was arrested by U.S. marshals on July 24. He was taken back to San Mateo County and has since posted bail and is out of custody, according to prosecutors.
