Man Sentenced to 80+ Years for Killing Girlfriend in Their Peninsula Home

Alberto Trejo, 53, shot the victim in back of her head, hid her body in a Pacifica apartment complex and told roommates she ran off.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA – A San Mateo County judge sentenced a man convicted in 2015 of killing his girlfriend to 80-years-to-life in prison on Friday, according to prosecutors.

Alberto Trejo, 53, was convicted of first-degree murder with a firearm enhancement as well as being a felon in possession of a gun.

In February, 2013 Trejo killed Cecilia Zamora with a single bullet to the back of the head while they were in a home they shared in San Bruno, according to prosecutors.

Trejo and his girlfriend were living together with others in the San Bruno home when on Feb. 13, 2013, Trejo called another resident crying and saying his gun went off, according to prosecutors.

Trejo was busy with laundry when other residents came home and he told them he had an argument with his girlfriend and she left, according to prosecutors. His girlfriend was last seen that day.

Prosecutors said the victim’s mother reported her daughter’s disappearance a few days later.

Trejo then hid her body in the storage area of a Pacifica apartment complex and it wasn't discovered for nearly two months.

This was Trejo's second strike and he was facing 91-years-to-life in state prison.
