Millbrae Bomb Threat: 2 Schools Evacuated, Police Say

Police say they believe the threat to be a hoax, but are investigating nonetheless.

MILLBRAE, CA β€” San Mateo County sheriff's officials are investigating a bomb threat that was emailed to the a Boys and Girls Club in Millbrae Friday afternoon, the agency says. Two nearby schools have since been evacuated.

"Due to a bomb threat email to the Boys and Girls Club this afternoon, Lomita Park Elementary School and Taylor Middle School in the City of Millbrae have been evacuated," sheriff's Det. Salvador Zuno said.

Officials don't believe there is any validity to the threat, but are searching.

"The Sheriff's Office believes this email to be a hoax and so far has found no suspicious evidence," Zuno said. "We want to reassure our students and parents their safety is our priority and are currently searching these locations. For any questions on students at these locations please contact the schools directly."

Zuno asked the public to avoid the area until further notice.
