Dear Millbrae Community,

Hello again, it’s time for another update on our continually evolving situation. Thank you for staying tuned. Today, seven Bay Area county health officers, in collaboration with their six county superintendents of schools have made a unified, regional decision to extend school closures and student dismissals from regular school attendance through May 1, 2020 to slow the spread of COVID-19 to the maximum extent possible. While we all hope to be back in the classroom as soon as possible, we support this regional decision to prioritize the health of our community and limit the strain on our local healthcare providers. MSD’s Distance Learning continues now, through at least May 1. We thank our administration and teachers for their tireless dedication to supporting distance learning efforts and continuing to provide a meaningful learning experience for our children. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we navigate the continuation of remote/distance learning.

Our district and site administration meet weekly to discuss latest updates, this week to discuss the extension of school closure and our plan of action for remote/distance learning for the month of April. Your teachers and principals will message you about their extension plan, materials, etc. Please look out for additional information from them. Remember, if you have questions about your child’s Distance Learning program, please reach out to their teacher(s) and/or site principal.

Many of you have kindly reached out with offers of support. An inspiring bright spot in all of this is the care and compassion our community has for their neighbors and the most vulnerable among us. Our small but mighty team of staff continues to deliver school lunches every day to many of our families, and our maintenance and operations team continue to clean and sanitize our campuses. If you would like to help out, here are some local agencies that welcome your support right now.

• San Mateo County has created the San Mateo County Strong Fund to respond to the urgent needs of families, small businesses, and non-profits who are struggling with the economic consequences of the coronavirus response.
• Help feed medical staff at Mills Peninsula Medical Center Program | Baywatch Restaurant
• Second Harvest Food Bank
• Pets In Need has established a temporary emergency assistance program for local pet owners financially hurt by the coronavirus pandemic
• San Mateo County is accepting volunteers for a variety of jobs. Fill out this form if you are interested.
• All hospitals are accepting donations for medical supplies, including face masks, disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, nitrile gloves (latex free). You may donate directly:
