Millbrae Updates Development Impact Fees

MILLBRAE, CA – The Millbrae City Council adopted an Ordinance approving Development Impact Fees for the Millbrae Station Area Specific Plan (MSASP) at the February 28th Council meeting. The ordinance impacts new construction located within MSASP: this area is bounded by El Camino Real and Broadway to the west; Victoria Avenue and Highline Canal to the north; San Francisco Airport and Highway 101 to the east; and the City of Burlingame to the south.

The new ordinance updates and increases the existing development impact fees to fund the cost for roadways, intersections, public buildings, public safety improvements, water and sewer infrastructure, and parks. Further, the land-use categories for these fees include retail, hotel, multi-family residential, and industrial.

“The development impact fees have not been increased since 1998,” said Reuben Holober, Mayor of the City of Millbrae. “When developers apply for building permits within the MSASP area, the fees will be established and included on those applications. The fees will cover the costs of MSASP facilities, ranging from utilities infrastructure to recreation facilities.”

The ordinance amends Article XVII of Chapter 10.05 of Title 10 of the Millbrae Municipal Code. The new fees will go into effect on April 29, 2017.
