Today, Peninsula Clean Energy and PG&E notified the City of Millbrae that local residents and businesses may experience power outages tonight or tomorrow due to excessive heat and power consumption.

The City of Millbrae is in PG&E’s outage block 50, and may experience a rotating power outage tonight or tomorrow. Estimated restoration times are 2-3 hours after the outage actually starts. The situation remains dynamic and shutoff times may change.

Rotating outages are due to strain on California's grid. The need for outages is determined by the statewide grid operator and not PG&E.

Spare the Air in Effect for Wednesday

A Spare the Air Alert is in effect Wednesday, August 19, for the San Francisco Bay Area.

It is illegal for Bay Area residents to burn wood or manufactures fire logs in outdoor fire pits, outdoor fireplaces, or any other wood burning devices.

Smoke from numerous fires are currently impacting air quality in portions of the Bay Area. Concentrations of particulate matter pollution are forecast to be unhealthy. High levels of particulate matter pollution are harmful to breathe, especially for young children, seniors and those with respiratory and heart conditions. Protect your health by staying indoors and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities.
