Millbrae Woman Identified in Deadly Caltrain Crash

MILLBRAE, CA- A woman struck and killed by a Caltrain in Millbrae on Saturday night has been identified as 27-year-old Miriam Ortiz, according to the San Mateo County coroner's office.

A southbound train struck Ortiz, a Millbrae resident, on the tracks near Center and Monterey streets at about 10 p.m., Caltrain officials said. About 350 passengers were onboard at the time.

As of Monday morning, the incident remains under investigation, Caltrain spokeswoman Jayme Ackemann said.

The incident is Caltrain's third fatality of the year.
