2. Proper clothes β comfortable closed-toed shoes and sunscreen or a hat.
3. Supplies β bring your own buckets, gloves and a reusable water bottle. Help reduce our overall footprint during the event!
In 2016, more than 4,000 volunteers removed 26,000 pounds of trash and recyclables from San Mateo Countyβs beaches, lakes, and waterways. Families, friends, coworkers, scout troops, school groups, service clubs, and individuals come together to celebrate and share their appreciation of California's unique and delicate coastline.
You'd be surprised what we find along the coast: a TV, shopping cart, boat debris, even a recliner! Whatever you find out there, share it with us by posting to Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag #CCDSMC and tag @SMCHealth while you're at it.
This event is coordinated in conjunction with the California Coastal Commission, Ocean Conservancy and many statewide and local partners. Special thanks to our dedicated volunteer site captains for their commitment to helping maintain the safety and health of San Mateo Countyβs coast.
