UPDATED: One Hospitalized in Millbrae Two-Alarm Structure Fire

Crews were sent to the scene Tuesday afternoon.

UPDATE 9 P.M.:

A man suffered burns in a two-alarm house fire in Millbrae Tuesday afternoon, a fire official said.

The incident was reported at 3:38 p.m. in the 1000 block of Helen Drive, according to the Millbrae Fire Department.

There were initial reports of explosions coming from the home but firefighters did not witness any once they reached the scene, Central County Fire Chief John Kammeyer said.

PG&E troublemen and a service representative were also on the scene, which is standard procedure, according to utility officials.

Flames were seen coming from the garage and a front room of the one-story home, Kammeyer said.

The blaze was under control within 10 minutes of crews arriving on scene, he said.

One resident was treated at the scene for β€œfairly serious” burns and was transported to a hospital, Kammeyer said. No other injuries were reported.

No one else was inside the home during the fire, according to Kammeyer. Neighboring structures were not threatened by the blaze.

The home sustained significant damage in the fire and is uninhabitable, Kammeyer said.

Investigators are working to determine the origin and cause of the fire, he said.

While firefighters were at the scene, traffic was closed on Helen Drive from Sleepy Hollow to Banbury lanes and on Larkspur Drive from Helen Drive to Pinehurst Court, county officials said.

Firefighters responded Tuesday to a second-alarm structure fire, resulting in multiple road closures in Millbrae.

The incident was reported at 3:38 p.m. at 1006 Helen Drive, according to the Millbrae Fire Department. Helen Drive has been closed to traffic from Sleepy Hollow to Banbury lanes and Larkspur Drive has been closed from Helen Drive to Pinehurst Court, San Mateo County emergency services officials said.

Access to Interstate Highway 280 from Helen and Larkspur drives has also been restricted, according to county emergency services officials.
