35 Mill Valley Roads to Get Fresh Pavement: Is Your Street On the List?

Mill Valley, CA — More than $4 million in municipal tax service revenues will spent this year by the city of Mill Valley to improve roads and sewer facilities.

The first phase of the city's annual road pavement project is already under way, City Manager Jim McCann said Thursday in a newsletter, with a goal of improving 35 streets throughout Mill Valley.

A significant phase of pavement rehabilitation is scheduled to occur on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Aug. 1 through Aug. 10. Work crews will use slurry seal — a mixture of water, asphalt emulsion, crushed rock, and additives — to cover the existing asphalt pavement surface of selected streets, according to McCann.

Residents are advised that during the project, the city will need to close the selected roads to vehicle traffic, pedestrians and bicyclists, and restrict parking in certain areas, until work is completed at 5 p.m. each day.

City officials say they recognize that, in addition to this pavement project, there are other ongoing projects, most notably on Miller Avenue and Camino Alto. To minimize impacts to traffic from the infrastructure repair projects, the city said it scheduled much of the road work to take place in the summer, when school is not in session.

"Still, we recognize that this creates an inconvenience and we thank you for your understanding and patience as we improve Mill Valley’s roadways," city officials said.
