'Angry Karl The Fog' Over Marin County: Photo Of The Day

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Patch reader Janet Erickson captured a photo of "angry Karl the Fog" — a nickname for the shallow fog that often engulfs San Francisco — on the day the skies turned orange in the Bay Area. The picture was taken Sept. 9 in Sausalito.
"As I understand it, the cool layer below the clouds helped keep some of the ash and smoke higher in the hot air above us instead of all around us," she said. "It had to be Karl doing his job to protect us."
