Construction Underway for Mill Valley-Sausalito Multi-Use Pathway Roundabout at Bayfront Park

Improvements include construction of the bicycle and pedestrian roundabout with improved pavement markings and signs.

The following is a news release from the city of Mill Valley:

The Roundabout Project at Bayfront Park, in coordination with the County of Marin, consists of reconstruction of the high-use junction area where the entrance to Bayfront Park meets the end of Sycamore Avenue.

The improvements include construction of the bicycle and pedestrian roundabout with improved pavement markings and signs, and a plaza area with landscaping, a seat wall, a bike map kiosk, a drinking fountain and garbage receptacles. The newly constructed pathway on Sycamore Avenue will serve as the west leg of the roundabout.

Construction of this project will take place from Monday, October 13, 2014 through the end of December, 2014. Hours of construction will be Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Construction work will impact pedestrian and cyclist access to the multi-use path. Work crews will provide a temporary detour path during construction, and parking at the end of Sycamore Avenue will be temporarily restricted. Construction will not affect emergency vehicles at any time. Residents and visitors should expect traffic delays and periods of increased traffic for the duration of the project. Traffic control operators and traffic control signage will be available to direct traffic flow as needed.
