Dee Bell &the Marcos Silva Trio Kick Off Super Bowl weekend with That Old Black Magic!

Dee Bell & the Marcos Silva Trio at the Sound Room in Oakland on 6 February 2016

Kick Off That Old Black Magic with Silva • Bell • Elation at The Sound Room 6 February 2016

The ebullient pairing of Dee Bell’s behind-the-beat swing vocals, and Brazilian jazz instructor Marcos Silva’s precisely executed samba rhythms present a subtly new yin and yang celebratory music experience at the Sound Room Oakland on 6 February 2016 at 8pm.

Bell, formerly a 80s fixture on the Bay Area jazz scene, has offered only rare appearances these last several years, but returns to one of her favorite intimate rooms to perform favorites from her festive collaboration with composer/arranger Marcos Silva. This show will fill your heart, soul and appetite, as the food creations from the Sound Room’s Chef Karen are some of the best in the Bay Area.

In the 80s, Bell performed at Yoshi’s first Claremont store on a weekly basis when her Concord recordings with Stan Getz, Eddie Duran, and Tom Harrell were in current play. Scott Thompson on bass, and Phil Thompson on drums round out the trio.

Bell’s last show at the Sound Room was a sellout. This is a rare opportunity to share the elation of the current Silva•Bell music merger. Preferred seating early 7pm entry tickets are $25. General 7:30pm seating tickets are $20.

Silva – Bell – Elation is a tantalizing album that will leave the listener mourning for the 20 years of great music missed out on while Dee Bell was recovering from the Sagacious Grace fiasco. – Jack Goodman, Music Review, January 2014, blogcritics.org
