An early Mother's Day present for everyone: Dee Bell & Marcos Silva & The Face I Love

During the period that Dee Bell taught music in Mill Valley, included in her unconventional methods, students learned “The Face I Love”, Marcos Valle’s Brazilian waltz. This selection was first, an opportunity to feel syncopation, and second, a Mother’s Day present. This same song was the connection that introduced Dee to Marcos Silva and the seed for their 2014 collaboration album Silva • Bell • Elation that included the tune. The album is a merging of their two distinct styles in a subtle new yin and yang blend of Dee’s sultry swing and Marcos’ ebullient and native Brazilian rhythms.

Jazz in the Neighborhood presents Dee Bell and the Marcos Silva Trio in concert on

Dee and Marcos will also present the emerging saxophonist, Madison Bohrer, as an opening act. Scott Thompson, bass and Phil Thompson, drums round out the group.
