Elderly Mill Valley Man ID'd in Deadly Wrong-Way I-680 Crash
An 85-year-old man was killed Monday morning after driving the wrong direction on an area Interstate, according to the CHP.

MARTINEZ - An 85-year-old man from Mill Valley was killed Monday morning after driving the wrong direction on I-680 and crashing into the concrete center divider north of Pacheco Blvd., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers say a preliminary investigation revealed the man was driving an Infiniti the wrong way, in a southbound direction, in the northbound lanes of the center median sometime around 2:30 a.m.

According to the CHP, the man drove directly into the concrete center divider that separates the northbound and southbound lanes.
Authorities say the crash caused extensive damage to the vehicle, and the driver was trapped inside with major injuries.

The CHP says emergency responders rendered medical aid to the man before he was transported to John Muir Medical Center where he died of his injuries.
This is an ongoing investigation. At this time, authorities say it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision.
