On September 16th the Beth Custer Ensemble returns to 142 Throckmorton to perform an evening of Custer's wide ranging, funky songs and instrumentals. Long hailed as a Bay Area gem, Custer will be singing and playing clarinets with her long standing, incredibly tight and intuitive septet. The Beth Custer Ensemble is composed of Jan Jackson on drums, David James on guitar, Lisa Mezzacappa on bass, Graham Connah on piano, Chris Grady on trumpet, Diana Mangano on vocals and Custer on vocals and clarinets.
Pieces from Custer's recently release, Roam, will be performed (SF Chronicle gave the CD it's highest rating) as well as works from past projects including her internationally acclaimed My Grandmother silent film score and more recently her indie radio hit 'Empire of the United States.' Don't miss this chance to hear one of SF's long held musical treasure troves!
