"We are strong believers in local community support, including the venues (such as Throckmorton) that allow us to put on events," says Floating Records founder, Don Zimmer. "Our mission is to unite the community through the trans-formative power of the arts." To that end, Zimmer teams with Nadine Storyk Curtis, owner of 7 on Locust, whose curated fashion show provides the perfect cultural bookend that night to the great live Floating Records live music lineup: Marble Party, local favorites in the Marin County music scene, whose music is part indie rock/power-pop, with a hint of psychedelia. Their debut album Lyle garnered rave reviews; DJ Cuppa Joe at KALX-FM in Berkeley named Lyle on his list of top 20 albums; the quartet's newest FR album is entitled Plush. Also performing at Fall Revue: Graham Guest, guitarist and main songwriter from Houston, TX band Moses Guest, whose FR-released album Light was widely praised by No Depression and other respected national media;plus Jeffrey Halford & the Healers, longtime Northern California Americana-Roots troubadour whose recent FR release Lo-Fi Dreams rose to #23 on the Americana Music Charts, of whom No Depression raved,"Country Has A New King." Halford - who just completed his second consecutive Fall European tour - had his Lo-Fi Dreams released by Floating Records in Limited Edition white vinyl this past Summer.

Floating Records: Some Background, A Look Ahead

Floating Records was born from the vibrant houseboat community of Sausalito, California. We had a houseboat and we had records. And so, Floating Records was born. Yes, we may be a bit literal, but we have been living in California for a while. We realized that we needed to create a platform that both promoted the incredible music that surrounded us and we wanted to help the musician survive in this digital world. At one
point, the label became a NorCal Whole Foods vendor and were selling CDs in fifty of their stores with plans to add other territories "until that market collapsed," recalls Zimmer, a former successful Nasdaq stock
trader. "They (Whole Foods) purchased the discs from me in advance, not on consignment. Everyone wanted into Whole Foods and Floating Records was the way in. We were going to move into other territories and then CD sales died and they stopped carry them altogether. There was even a Whole Foods in Oakland that sold vinyl."

The label's mission is to cultivate a site with talented musicians from a variety of genres. We represent and distribute the best local and independent music. Our commitment is to honor the music and the musician
by providing not only an outlet for exposure, but also ensuring that the artists profit directly from their music. When a musician creates, we feel that they should reap the benefits of their hard work. When
music is downloaded from the Floating Records site, the artists receives 100% of the the money.

2018 looks to be exploding for the label. "We are working on the 2018 calendar and plan on compilations from twenty years of Moses Guest, a Best of Jeffrey Halford, two County Well releases and some long-awaited
original music from guitar master, Mark Karan (lead guitarist with ex-Grateful Dead member Bob Weir's band, Ratdog). There’s some other stuff in the hopper but we will wait on that."
