Flood Advisory Issued For North Bay

The National Weather Service advised motorists to not drive over flooded roadways and to report flooding to law enforcement.

NORTH BAY, CA – The National Weather Service has issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for the North Bay. The advisory, initially in place until 3:45 a.m., has been extended until 9 a.m. Thursday for parts of Marin, Napa and Sonoma counties.

Doppler radar and automated rain gauges in the North Bay indicated an area of moderate to heavy rain occurring over the region with additional heavy rain detected offshore, according to the National Weather Service. The alert was issued just after 12:30 a.m.

"Minor roadway flooding is expected to continue through the early morning, with an increased risk of rockslides and mudslides," weather officials said. "In addition, there will likely be additional flooding of poorly drained urban areas, small streams and creeks."

The National Weather Service advised motorists to not drive over flooded roadways and to report flooding to law enforcement.

"Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads," weather officials said. "Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles."

The California Highway Patrol also issued a high-wind advisory for the Dumbarton Bridge just after 12:30 a.m.
