MILL VALLEY, CA — Downtown Mill Valley has reopened after a gas leak prompted closures Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

Downtown was closed for a 1-mile radius of the area of Throckmorton and Corte Madera avenues, police said in an advisory at 1:24 p.m.

No evacuations were ordered, but police asked people to avoid the area.

PG&E remained on the scene late Thursday afternoon but deemed the area safe for reopening, police said in an update shortly before 3 p.m.
