Golden Gate Bridge Vista Point, Welcome Center Parking Lots Closed Labor Day Weekend
The closure of the Marin parking lot and the San Francisco parking lot are in an effort to reduce traffic congestion over the holiday.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – In an effort to mitigate the significant traffic backups that occur on busy holiday weekends as visitors queue for a limited number of parking spaces, the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District will restrict personal vehicle access to the Vista Point parking lot at the north end of the bridge and the Welcome Center parking lot at the south end of the bridge between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. over the Labor Day weekend — Friday, Sept. 2 through Monday, Sept. 5.
Bicyclists are welcome, but electronic signs will notify drivers of the lot closures in advance of the bridge, and signs will also be placed on the bridge itself leading up to the Vista Point exit.
This change from usual operations is the result of joint cooperation between Caltrans, California Highway Patrol, the National Park Service and the Golden Gate Bridge District, according to a news release from the CHP Marin Area Office.

Vista Point belongs to Caltrans, which has issued a permit to allow the GGBHTD to conduct these restrictions at Vista Point during the holiday weekend.
Those coming to the Golden Gate Bridge during peak visitation hours can enjoy the view from the Welcome Center and the Vista Point overlooks by taking a tour bus, corporate shuttle, taxi, or ride-sharing service such as Lyft or Uber.

Tour buses will be allowed to park at both the Welcome Center lot and Vista Point.
Taxis and rideshare vehicles will be allowed to pick-up and drop off passengers at the Welcome Center only, but will not be allowed to enter Vista Point. No taxi or rideshare staging or waiting will be allowed. Ridesharing vehicles will need proper identification, such as a decal.
The Welcome Center will still be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily and cafés will be open to serve food and drink as usual. Visitors can park in the overflow lots along Lincoln Boulevard and in the Presidio, or take public transportation to visit the Welcome Center and the Bridge.
Visitors can plan their trip by going to 511.org or by calling the Golden Gate Customer Service Center at 511 (say "Golden Gate Transit")/TDD 711, weekdays, except holidays, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
