The growing issue of theft in marin county

And how to avoid it

Theft if becoming one of the most common crimes in Marin and many people are finding themselves becoming victums. Over 230 thefts have happened in Mill Valley so far this year according to neighborhood scout’s Mill Valley crime analytics not including the ones that weren’t reported to the police which often happens because people don't want to go through the trouble of filing a report.

Many people become victums of theft because they make simple mistakes such as not locking up their stuff and using locks that are easily bypassed. There are a few easy ways to reduce the risk of having your stuff stolen. The first one pretty obvious but if you don't lock up your stuff it is likely that it will get stolen. Also there are certain locks many people use that are very easy to pick or bypass. The best way to avoid theft is to have a nice lock as a deterrent.

In an attempt reduce the risk of theft, a group of fellow tam students and I have decided to make a series of informational videos that will be released at a to be determined date (for more information visit crimestopbayarea.weebly.com) showing some common mistakes people make that lead to theft and how to avoid them.
