Hikers Targeted In Credit Card Theft Scheme At Marin County Park: Police

TIBURON, CA — Two men were arrested after police said they worked together to steal credit and debit cards from vehicles in Tiburon.

Jaime Garrido Guerrero, 64, and Hernan Reyes Correa, 55, were booked into jail on suspicion of fraud, forgery, theft, criminal conspiracy, receiving stolen property and possession of burglary tools, police said.

Multiple people reported having cards stolen from their vehicles at Blackie’s Pasture while they were walking on the Old Rail Trail, according to the Tiburon Police Department. Investigators said the stolen cards were later used at businesses in San Francisco and Corte Madera.

Police determined the two suspects were working together throughout the park’s parking lot. They were seen casing parked vehicles, checking car doors and timing the burglaries when vehicle owners left their cars unattended, police said.

Investigators identified a Ford Explorer linked to the thefts and reviewed surveillance footage from businesses where the stolen cards were used.
