One of the hardest aspects of aging for me is wondering if what I experience is normal. Since no one really knows what normal is anymore (and most people are reluctant to talk about it in public) I am often left floundering about certain basic facts of life. Last Saturday I felt the urge to wander around downtown Mill Valley on the eve of The Dipsea. The town was buzzing. There were no seats at the bar at Beer Works, La Ginestra or Vasco's. Steven and I ended eating sliders, a chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream while the sound check was performed at The Sweetwater. Afterwards we went to see "Before Midnight" at the movie theatre. It was packed too. If you're in or have ever been in a long-term intimate relationship you have conflict and disappointments...par for the course, right? After "Before Midnight" I emerged from the theatre feeling so normal. Compared to that couple and their big on-screen fight, my relationship seemed positively normal and maybe even slightly better than normal! I can't tell you how elated was! I can not recommend the movie enough--even if for this feeling alone. But you also get a free ride to Greece which is quite delicious!) Happy Tuesday! Enjoy your life!
