Jorge Maravilla of Mill Valley wins Marathon in Taiwan!
Winner of the 2017 San Francisco Marathon, Jorge Maravilla, won another marathon in Taiwan on November 19: the 1st Penghu Cross-Sea Marathon

The winner of the 2017 San Francisco Marathon, Jorge Maravilla, just returned from an adventure trip of a lifetime to Taiwan. At the end of his trip in Taiwan he ran in the 1st Penghu Cross-Sea Marathon and WON. Jorge Maravilla WON the Penghu Cross-Sea Marathon. Jorge returned to the Bay Area on Monday, November 20th and is available for interviews.
Fast as the wind, Jorge Maravilla placed 1st in the Penghu Cross-Sea Marathon, a race with participants from all over the world. Maravilla, a dual citizen who hopes to run for El Salvador in the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, is a goal-setter, traveler, and adventure seeker. He lives in Marin County and at the age of 40, he intends to continue blazing a trail across the world.
2017 is the first year of the Penghu Cross-Sea marathon, which features a scenic “island-hopping” course that moves between small islands in the archipelago in the Taiwan Strait. In addition to the marathon, Penghu is host to another race, the Ironman Taiwan, which will take place again in October 2018. It is also a common destination for windsurfing enthusiasts. The archipelago is a stunning location for these events, with its turquoise sea, great beaches, magnificent temples, and traditional Chinese-style homes surrounded by coral walls.
