The America’s Cup boat race takes place in the San Francisco bay this year, drawing thousands to the event from all over the world. With the most technologically advanced catamaran-type sail boats in the world, there is a lot of excitement about this Summer’s events. Oracle Team USA is sailing an AC72 catamaran to performance levels that defy gravity itself. When hitting the right speed of more than 20 knots, the boat pops out of the water and sails on its foils, helping the boat literally cut through the waves, hitting speeds of more than 40 knots (46 mph).
