SAUSALITO, CA – Sausalito police Friday arrested a Los Angeles man who was allegedly driving a vehicle that was stolen from another Southern California city the day before.

At 6:43 p.m., license plate recognition cameras alerted Sausalito police to a stolen vehicle entering the city via Alexander Avenue.

According to police, the vehicle, a 2015 Chrystler, was taken from Huntington Beach during a carjacking the day before. It was allegedly stolen by a man who was armed with an 8-inch knife.

Officers determined that the passenger was a hitchhiker who did not know the vehicle was stolen. He was released at the scene, police said.

The case remains under investigation by the Huntington Beach Police Department.

Reznick's arrest was aided by the license plate recognition cameras that became operational in the city of Sausalito in May. Since then, the cameras have helped police recover 11 stolen vehicles and arrest 14 individuals, police said.
