Marin County Sheriff Issues Scam Warning

The Marin County Sheriff's Office will not call anyone for any reason involving money.

MARIN COUNTY, CA -- People living in Marin County should be on the qui vive for scam phone calls asking them to buy gift cards because they missed a jury summons, sheriff's officials said Tuesday. The Marin County Sheriff's Office will not call anyone for any reason involving money, and any such calls are scams, according to sheriff's officials.

"Whether it's for bail, jury summons or outstanding tickets, we will not call for money, especially involving gift cards for payments," sheriff's officials said on social media Tuesday.

"They are convincing, so just say no!" sheriff's officials cautioned.
