Marin Municipal Customers Exceeding Conservation Goals
District officials say MMWD customers used 22 percent less water in November compared to the same time two years ago.

By Bay City News Service:
Marin Municipal Water District customers this year have been saving more than the District’s 20 percent target reduction of water usage since June, the District said Friday.
MMWD customers used 22 percent less water in November, and 21.1 percent less between June and November compared to the same months in 2013, District spokeswoman Ann Vallee said.

Water conservation dropped after June’s 26 percent saving, however. Customers saved 23 percent in July, 20 percent in August, 18 percent in September and 17 percent in October.
The 20 percent conservation target was set by the State Water Resources Control Board. Gov. Edmund Brown’s executive order called for reductions totaling 25 percent between June 2015 and February 2016, but Brown extended his executive order on Nov. 13 for 25 percent conservation through October 2016.

MMWD has not adopted mandatory reductions and is very thankful to its customers for stepping up to conserve voluntarily, Vallee said.
