Marin Unemployment Rate Remains Low and Steady

October's 3.3 percent total was unchanged from September's percentage.

MARIN COUNTY, CA -- The unemployment rate in Marin County was 3.3 percent in October 2016, unchanged from a revised 3.3 percent in September 2016, and below the year-ago estimate of 3.4 percent, according to newly-released data from the state Employment Development Department.

Marin's 3.3 percent rate compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 5.3 percent for California and 4.7 percent for the nation during the same period.

Out of a labor force of 146,500 people , roughly 141,700 living in Marin last month were employed, according to EDD data. An estimated 4,800 people, or 3.3 percent of the population, were unemployed.

Marin County had the second-lowest employment rate in California last month, according to the data, behind only San Mateo County, which recorded 3.1 percent unemployment last month. San Francisco County had the third-lowest rate, 3.4 percent, according to the data.
