Mill Valley Philharmonic celebrates its 15th season with its concert series, Fate Knocks.

Mill Valley Philharmonic presents Fate Knocks Concerts: March 11th and 14th - Free concerts, everyone welcome 15th Anniversary Gala: March 1

The concert series Fate Knocks ties together the music of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 (first movement), and Berlioz’s Scène d’amour from Romeo and Juliette.

Anton Schindler, Beethoven’s assistant and biographer, claimed that the composer described those iconic first four notes of his fifth symphony as “fate knocking on the door.” Tchaikovsky’s described the opening fanfare of his own fourth symphony as a metaphor for “Fate.” He wrote to a fellow composer that the symphony was a reflection of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony in its central theme. The fated lovers, Romeo

Mill Valley Philharmonic’s 15th Anniversary Season Gala

Mill Valley Philharmonic is celebrating its 15th season on 3/15/15 with a special gala to benefit the orchestra, from 2:00 to 5:00pm at the Mill Valley Community Center.
