Mill Valley School District Cancels Classes for Thursday

A decision on whether or not classes will be canceled on Friday, too, will be made Thursday.

Mill Valley schools will not be in session on Thursday, due to the storm that’s predicted to touch down in the North Bay beginning Wednesday night, school officials announced Wednesday.

School officials posted the following message online:

“In consideration of the public safety and well-being of all of our families, all Mill Valley schools and all public schools in Marin County will be closed on Thursday, December 11, 2014.

This decision was based upon a strong recommendation made by Marin County Office of Education Superintendent, Mary Jane Burke, as well as representatives from state, federal and local agencies across the county. The National Weather Service has reported that their confidence in the significance of the storm has grown, as has our concern over the safety of our students, staff and faculty, many of whom commute from a great distance.

County officials have scheduled a conference call on Thursday for all superintendents. All families will be notified by 3:00 pm tomorrow about the status of opening school on Friday, December 12th.
