National Parks Reopen After Government Shutdown
All parks in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, including Muir Woods and Stinson Beach, have reopened as of Tuesday.

BAY AREA, CA – All parks in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area have reopened as of Tuesday after closing over the weekend as a result of the federal government shutdown, park officials said.
The Muir Woods National Monument and Stinson Beach both closed Sunday and were among many National Park Service sites in the Bay Area affected by the shutdown. Alcatraz Island remained open, but ranger-led tours were not available.
The federal shutdown started Friday night but ended Monday when Republicans and Democrats in Congress reached a short-term budget deal to fund the government through Feb. 8.
