Poetry Readings with Susan Rawlings and Rebecca Radner

O'Hanlon Center for the Arts Special Event

Join local authors Susan Rawlings and Rebecca Radner for an evening of delightful poetry. Susan and Rebecca will alternate reading, and they encourage requests from the audience. There will be time for Q and A and mingling afterwards over wine and cheese. Books will be available for sale.

Even As We Speak—Selected Poems by Susan Rawlins reveals layers of meaning in the language we use to communicate with and confuse each other; to share our feelings and hide them at the same time; to embark on a task in hope and collapse under systems and instructions gone awry. Murphy often rules this world (“If something can go wrong, it will!”), and Susan Rawlins catalogs the glorious disarray in her witty, distinctive voice.

In What you least expectSelected poems 1980-2011, Bay Area poet Rebecca Radner offers the reader a diverting ride through the landscape of family relationships, Tibetan Buddhist practice, present and absent friends, food, music, art, sex, memories, aging, toe shoes, and toaster ovens—the ever-expanding whizbang that is our collective life at this impermanent moment, expressed with candor, humor, and affection. RSVP by October 7 to save your space.

O’Hanlon Center for the Arts, 616 Throckmorton Ave., Mill Valley. Thursday, October 9. 7 to 9 p.m. $5 suggested donation.
