Police accuse the Marin man of stealing $30,000 from the business accounts of Thomas Knoll Winery.

By Bay City News Service:

The chair of the Tiburon Parks, Open Space and Trails Commission has been charged with embezzling money from a Napa winery where he worked as a bookkeeper, a Napa police lieutenant said.

Peter Winkler is suspected of withdrawing $30,000 from the business accounts of Thomas Knoll Winery between October 2013 and October 2015, Lt. Patrick Manzer said.

The business owners confronted Winkler about the missing money and Winkler was arrested in Marin County. He later posted bail and was released.

Napa police sent their investigation of the case to the Napa County District Attorney's Office in January, Manzer said.
