Sausalito​ Man Arrested For Child Porn: Sheriff's Office

SAUSALITO, CA — A Sausalito man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of child pornography, authorities announced.

Nicholas Cory Richars, 32, was arrested Wednesday morning, sheriff's Sgt. Brenton Schneider said.

The Marin County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation in October after receiving a tip from the San Francisco Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit that there was a possible suspect in Sausalito soliciting and receiving nude photographs from minors via an online chat group.

Detectives identified an address on Glen Court in Sausalito where the suspect, later identified as Richars, was living, Schneider said. They also discovered another address on East Strawberry Drive in unincorporated Mill Valley where Richars was recently staying.

Detectives served search warrants at both homes Wednesday and arrested Richars.

A preliminary investigation into his personal electronic devices allegedly revealed material depicting obscene images of a minor. There is no indication that any of the images are victims from Marin, Schneider said.
