Spanish Tutoring Office Opens in Mill Valley
A passionate and well established Spanish teacher has thrilled students by opening an office to teach privately near downtown Mill Valley.

Students are thrilled that El Dorado Tutoring, headed by Emilie Thomas has opened an office in their neighborhood. Coming to work on their Spanish in this peaceful creekside setting is so rewarding because each lesson is catered specifically to their goals as language learners.
Emilie works with adults as well as high school students. One of her adult students, Mark Stillman, speaks on his experience of working with Emilie: “Her enthusiasm for Spanish is infectious, leading one to look forward to the next class and new revelations. She teaches with good humor and has great anecdotes of her own experiences learning Spanish amid Spanish speakers in their own countries. This gave her a real understanding of common mistakes we beginning learners often make, and she’s able to teach the beginner how to confidently step out into the Spanish speaking world.”
Students are coming from all over Marin and even San Francisco to master Spanish and better their classroom grades. Some of the high schools represented are Branson, University High School, St. Mark’s Day School, St. Ignatius, Redwood, Marin Catholic and Marin Academy. The most prestigious curriculums in Marin demand that students master advanced literature and produce university level writings all in Spanish. It is a relief to these Honors and AP students to finally find a tutor who can really speak to their needs. They are proud to not only have raised their grades but to have also gained great confidence with such a vital language that will undoubtedly open doors for them throughout their educational and professional lives.

It is no mystery why these students are so engaged by Emilie’s lessons; it is clear that she is in love with her work. She glows as she shares her mission: “Teaching Spanish is so rewarding because I am enabling my students to break through the cultural barriers that surround us here in California. It is my goal for each student’s world to be brightened and broadened as they acquire language skills that allow them to access a rich world that would otherwise be out of reach. There really is nothing more fulfilling than sharing your passion with an eager student. I feel so lucky to be doing what I love.”
