State 1 Highway Reopens At Site of Dump Truck Crash [UPDATED]

Breaking: Northbound and southbound Shoreline Highway were closed at the crash site in the Stinson Beach area.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — State Highway 1 was closed in both directions Monday afternoon south of Panoramic Highway near Steep Ravine Trail in the Stinson Beach area after a dump truck went over an embankment, the California Highway Patrol reported.

A SigAlert was issued at 4:19 p.m., advising that CA-1 was closed to both northbound and southbound traffic at the site, but at 5:39 p.m., the SigAlert was lifted and the roadway was reopened to through traffic.

Earlier, vehicles were being turned around at Steep Ravine Trail and Muir Beach Outlook as emergency personnel including the Marin County Fire Department worked to rescue people from the truck.

CHP reported that three people were riding in the cab of a 10-wheeler dump truck that was discovered down an embankment. One of the occupants self-extricated from the vehicle, but two people were trapped inside.

The Marin County Fire Department reportedly came upon the crash site at about 3:42 p.m.

According to CHP, minor injuries were suffered in the incident.
