Tamalpais High School Mock Trial Takes County Win, Needs Help Getting to State Competition

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help get the students to the state competition in SoCal.

Tam High School is celebrating a big win this week, after taking home the top prize in the Marin County Mock Trial competition this weekend.

The event was held at the county courthouse on Saturday. The win for Tam H.S. comes as the 20th consecutive win at the county level.

“The Tam High team is legengary in the mock trial world!” Lee Budish tells Patch. “This year again, they will PROUDLY represent the county at the State Mock Trial Competition on March 20-22 in Riverside, California where they will compete with 40+ teams from around the state.”

Budish says that the 24 students and four volunteer coaches need some community help to get them to Riverside, though. The team’s captains have since launched a GoFundMe page in an effort to raise necessary funds.

“We’ve changed this Go Fund Me account to reach out to our incredibly supportive community to now ask for your support to help fund the team’s participation in the State Finals in Riverside, California this coming March,” the captains wrote on the fundraising site. “Given the inherent costs of flying a team of our size to Riverside and renting numerous hotel rooms, we need your support. We do not receive funding from the school for this trip; we rely solely on your aid and our parents.”

The team has a goal of raising $10,000. As of Monday afternoon, they had raised just over $2,300.
