The Traffic Congestion and Reduction Advisory Task Force invites you to participate in a Community Meeting on Tuesday, October 27 at 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Mill Valley Community Center at 180 Camino Alto.
The Task Force has held three meetings since late summer. Task Force members have received extensive presentations and materials intended to outline the historical and present-day traffic conditions. Topics of the presentations have included, but not been limited to, discussing the City’s roadway system capacity, population and school enrollment trends, travel purposes, and the results of recent traffic counts.
Task Force members received presentations from our School District partners outlining the successful programs, policies and practices they have employed to address school related traffic impacts, as well as a report from City of Mill Valley Public Works Director Jill Barnes on the City’s policies and practices used to manage construction related traffic and congestion. Task Force members also heard an update from our Caltrans representative on projects in the Mill Valley and immediate regional area, which have potential to reduce congestion that they are actively engaged in.
At the Community Meeting on October 27, Task Force members and City staff will explain their analysis of the problem and reveal a range of possible strategies to address it. Community members will be invited to provide feedback on those strategies.
The Task Force was assembled at the direction of the City Council, and appointments were selected by the Mayor. Committee members include representatives from the Mill Valley community, City staff, the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Mill Valley School District, Tamalpais Community Services District, Tamalpais Unified School District, the Mill Valley City Council, the Marin County Board of Supervisors, Caltrans, Assemblymember Marc Levine’s office, and Senator Mark McGuire’s office.
We invite you to join us in identifying realistic options to pursue to reduce congestion and improve the overall quality of life for Mill Valley residents.
At the conclusion of the Task Force’s meetings, a report will be taken to the Mill Valley City Council to review and weigh in on the recommendations made.
Your participation is welcome and encouraged. The meeting Agenda is forthcoming.
