Attractions To Reopen In Golden Gate National Recreation Area
Smoky conditions from the Camp Fire in Butte County prompted the closure of various facilities in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

BAY AREA, CA – Attractions in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area are slated to reopen Wednesday, Nov. 21, with visitor services during regular hours, according to the National Park Service. Smoky conditions from the Camp Fire in Butte County prompted the closure of various attractions, including Alcatraz Island, Fort Point National Historic Site and Muir Woods National Monument.
"We thank the public for their patience and understanding while we implemented safety precautions for visitors and staff over the last week," park communications director Charlie Strickfaden said.
The National Park Service anticipates continued visitor services on Friday, Nov. 23, and through the holiday weekend, provided air quality conditions remain healthy.
