The Warriors brought hot bats and impressive pitching to Alameda this past weekend and swept the Black Sox in a double header, winning 7-to-2 and 18-to-11.
In the first game, the Warriors’ Steve Nagy outdueled Black Sox pitcher, Taylor Gamboa (former Warrior), striking out 4 in 4 scoreless innings of 1-hit ball. Nagy would then hand the ball off to a string of extremely impressive relief pitchers, Trevin Haseltine, Connor Stahl, Sam Granoff, Alex Martinez, and Michael Peterson.
In Game 2 Thomas Peterson, Michael’s twin brother, had two excellent innings; however, in the 3rd inning, he began to struggle following a long break between innings. Jake Barron came in and pitched 3.2 innings of scoreless relief, keeping the Black Sox off the board.
While offensively, the Warriors have been on fire up and down the lineup, a few of the guys have been waiting to heat up. Casey Levy-Tulloch was one of these guys, but he certainly got into gear, going 4-for-5 with a long homerun to right field, a double, 2 RBI, and 3 runs.
All of us here at the First Base Foundation are looking forward to a lot more great baseball this summer from Casey and the rest of the California Warriors!
