The California Warriors traveled to Alameda to face the Merchants for their first road test of the year as they debuted their new camo jerseys. The Warriors were able to continue their winning ways as they defeated the Merchants 9-to-1.
Cody Slader and Cameron Merriwether proved to be all the Merchants could handle both in the field and at the plate. The two middle infielders made some tremendous plays on defense. Slader knocked in the first run for the Warriors in the top of the 3rd with a solid single allowing Colby Wright. Slader finished the day 2-for-5 with 3 RBI, and 2 runs. Merriwether and Jarret Costa both continued swinging hot bats early in the season as they went a combined 5-for-7 with 2 RBI, 3 doubles, and 3 runs scored.
Taylor Toccalino got his 2nd win of the season showing great command of his pitches while the defense behind him was absolutely stellar. Warriors pitchers gave up only five hits and on the day. Toccalino, Kenny Rosenberg, Kit Larson, and Mack Meyer only allowed 1 hit in 7 innings between the four of them.
