2 Men Arrested For San Jose Double Murder

The victims were killed at a taqueria in January. One of the suspects had fled to Florida.

SAN JOSE, CA — After a months-long investigation, two men were arrested Friday in connection with the shooting deaths of two other men in San Jose in January, police said.

At 8:30 a.m. eastern time, U.S. marshals and sheriff's officials from Pasco County, Florida arrested 29-year-old San Jose man Edgar Ramos Sanchez at a home in the city of Dade. He was booked into the Pasco County
Jail on suspicion of homicide.

At 9:45 a.m. pacific time, 27-year-old Raul Torres Madriz, also of San Jose, was taken into custody at the Santa Clara County Courthouse after attending court for an unrelated offense. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of homicide, police said.

On Jan. 5 at 7:44 p.m., San Jose police officers were dispatched to La Mejor Taqueria at 2003 Story Road on a report of a shooting.

At the scene officers found three men suffering from at least one gunshot wound each. Two of the victims, Hugo Sanchez and Daniel Maldonado, were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The third victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

Police said they spent months investigating the case before identifying the two suspects.
