2 Earthquakes Hit Santa Clara County, East Bay

The quakes struck near San Martin and Morgan Hill, officials said.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA – A second small earthquake was reported in Santa Clara County Tuesday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. At about 10:30 p.m., a magnitude 3.9 earthquake struck about 5 miles from San Jose's Alum Rock neighborhood. The quake was felt as far away as Livermore and Sunol.

Earlier Tuesday evening, a preliminary magnitude 3.1 earthquake was reported around 7:20 p.m. That earthquake struck about 5.6 miles from San Martin and 7.5 miles from Morgan Hill, USGS officials said.

No injuries were reported as a result of the quakes.
