Authorities ID Man Struck, Killed By VTA Train In Milpitas

The incident occurred Wednesday night.

A man struck and killed by a Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority train in Milpitas late Wednesday night has been identified as 35-year-old Mark Baez of San Jose, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.

Shortly after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a report of a collision at East Tasman and Alder drives, police Lt. Kevin Moscuzza said. Officers and fire crews responded to the scene and performed life-saving efforts on the man, later identified as Baez, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, Moscuzza said.

Baez was struck by a southbound train on the Alum Rock-Santa Teresa line that had no passengers on board at the time, VTA spokeswoman Brandi Childress said.
