Automated External Defibrillators Placed In County Parks
38 of the life saving devices were distributed Wednesday.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA - There are 38 new life saving tools available in Santa Clara County.
County parks received a delivery of mobile automated external defibrillators through the county's public access program.
The AEDs were delivered at a news conference at Hellyer County Park in San Jose Wednesday morning.

According to county officials, the survival rate for sudden cardiac arrest increases to 80 percent with the use of an AED compared to just 5-8 percent when CPR is applied.
County officials said the nonprofit Racing Hearts, the county's Emergency Medical Services agency and other community organizations are working on making AEDs more available in public, in private areas where people gather, or in locations where individuals with a high risk of heart attacks live.
