Coroner IDs Man Hit, Killed While Walking On Hwy 101
The victim was walking across an off-ramp near Tully Road July 5.

A pedestrian struck and killed on U.S. Highway 101 in San Jose earlier this month has been identified as 29-year-old Solomon Griffin, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.
On July 5 around 9:15 p.m., California Highway Patrol officers responded to a report of a pedestrian walking on Highway 101 near Tully Road, CHP officials said. As officers were on their way to the scene, they were informed that a car struck the pedestrian, according to the CHP.
An investigation determined Griffin was walking east across a northbound off-ramp where he was struck by a 2010 Toyota Corolla, according to the CHP.

Emergency crews were called to the scene and determined Griffin suffered a broken left leg, lacerations and internal injuries, CHP officials said. Griffin was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead, CHP officials said.
The driver, a 21-year-old Milpitas resident, stopped after the collision and was not injured, according to the CHP. The driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not under the influence when the collision occurred, CHP officials said.
