Grass Fire Reported On I-680 Near McKee Road

CHP closed two southbound lanes.

UPDATE:

The California Highway Patrol has issued a Sig-alert this afternoon for Interstate Highway 680 at McKee Road in San Jose.

The highway patrol issued the alert at 3:01 p.m. as two lanes are blocked to provide safety for fire crews working on the fire, highway patrol officials said. The highway patrol estimates the two lanes will reopen at about 4 p.m.

The fire was first reported at 2:23 p.m. and as of 2:27 p.m. the fire was growing, highway patrol officials said.

Firefighters are responding to a roadside fire on Interstate Highway 680 in San Jose this afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A small grass fire burning on the right hand shoulder was reported at 2:23 p.m. in the vicinity of Highway 680 and the Mckee Road off-ramp, according to the CHP. The size of the fire was growing as of 2:27 p.m., according to the CHP.

Two lanes of southbound traffic have been closed due to the presence of fire equipment, and CHP officers are on the scene assisting with traffic control.
