Man Holed Up In House Off North Capitol Avenue

Police are seeking a man who is believed to be hiding inside a San Jose home, following an officer involved shooting that occurred early this morning.

At 12:11 a.m., officer responded to the 1300 block of San Marcos Drive, after a woman called to report that her brother had showed up to the residence intoxicated and with a gun, threatening to harm himself, according to police. When officers arrived at the scene, they observed a man with a shotgun, police said. Two officers fired their guns in the direction of the suspect, police said.

The suspect then retreated into the house.

Officers set up a perimeter around the house, but as of 5:30 a.m., the suspect has not responded to police requests to come out, police said. The two officers involved in the shooting were not injured, according to police.

San Marcos Drive is a few blocks off North Capitol Avenue.

The incident is the second officer involved shooting in San Jose in the last six hours. On Sunday evening around 6:20 p.m., police fatally shot a person, who was suspected of stabbing a man, near East San Antonio Street and Packing Place, according to police.
